Day 1 – Saturday 11th October – Welcome to Egypt
As-salaam ‘alykum or Hello! From the majestic pyramids of Giza to the vibrant waters of the Red Sea, Egypt offers a tapestry of experiences. We’ll explore ancient temples, cruise down the River Nile and savour the rich flavoyrs of Egyptian cuisine. This is going to be an unforgettable journey.
On the first day, it’s time to settle in. You have the whole day to arrive in Cairo and then join us at 6pm for a Welcome Dinner, where you can meet your fellow travellers.

Day 2 – Sunday 12th October – Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum
After breakfast, meet our Egyptologist tour guide – Sam, who will take us to see one of the ancient wonders of the world – the Great Pyramids of Giza. The pyramids are royal ancient tombs that have stood the test of time over 4500 years. Our guide will regal you with all the historical facts and we’ll also go to a spot where we will have a panoramic view over all the pyramids of Giza and ride a camel with the pyramids in the background. We’ll than take a close-up look at the Sphinx – the legendary guardian that stands by the huge funeral complex with its lion body and the head of king Chephren. There’ll then be a quick stop by a Papyrus shop.
After lunch, we’ll head to the newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum, soon to be the world’s biggest archaeological museum. Home to a vast collection of ancient artifacts, here you can further immerse yourself in Egypt’s rich history offering insights into the art, culture, and achievements of this remarkable country.

Day 3 – Monday 13th October – Down to Aswan
We have an early start as we take a short flight to Aswan in South Egypt. Upon arrival, we’ll visit Philae Temple which is dedicated to the goddess Isis. It is arguably one of the most stunning temple locations as it sits on Agilkia Island, enveloped by the serene waters of the Nile. After exploring the temple, we will pass by an Egyptian essential oils shop, before checking into our hotel where you can relax and unwind. Later in the afternoon, we’ll head to a local Nubian village. The Nubians are the native people of Aswan and this will be an amazing opportunity to connect with them and to experience their warm hospitality. We’ll have a traditional dinner together, where you can taste the unique flavours and culinary traditions of the region.

Day 4 – Tuesday 14th October – In the Desert and on the Nile
On this morning, you can choose to unwind at the hotel or embark on an exciting journey to Abu Simbel, one of Egypt’s most fascinating temple complexes. We’ll venture into the desert, driving 230 km south of Aswan, near the Sudan border. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to explore two magnificent temples, carved from rock and dating back to the 13th century BC.
In the afternoon, we will enjoy cruising along the Nile in a traditional Felucca sailing boat. Spot different landmarks and enjoy a tasty late lunch.

Day 5 – Wednesday 15th October – Digging into history in Luxor
We’ll start the day with a drive to Luxor – the main historical city in Egypt and the capital of the ancient world. We’ll quickly check into our hotel before heading to Karnak temple which is the second biggest temple in the world and was built over 2000 years ago. Immerse yourself in history as you learn about the ancient Egypt God Amon Ra from our Egyptologist guide and get lost among the 134 columns of the Hypostyle hall. In the evening, we will visit the temple of Luxor. This 13th/14th-century BC temple is beautifully illuminated at night and also contains it’s famous obelisk.

Day 6 – Thursday 16th October – Luxor hot air balloon and Valley of the Kings
You can start the morning drifting above the historical sites and countryside of Luxor in a sunrise hot air balloon ride. Then we’ll embark on a thrilling adventure to the Valley of the Kings, the ultimate royal hideaway, where New Kingdom Pharaohs (16th to 11th century BC) were buried for eternity – many of the tombs are still being discovered today. Lack of light pollution and careful preservation means that the original colours of these tombs are intact – we’ll enter three of them so you can see for yourself what a royal tomb looks like!
In the afternoon, we’ll explore the 15th century BC Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. She is a renowned queen who held the longest reign—21 years—in ancient Egypt. We’ll also pass by an Alabaster workshop where you’ll get to learn how this rock is carved in Egypt – you can even give it a try! In the evening, we’ll check out of our hotel and take a short flight back to Cairo.

Day 7 – Friday 17th October – Mosque, market and more
We’re back in Cairo and after a scrumptious breakfast, we’ll transport you to Ibn Tulun. This is Africa’s oldest mosque still standing in it’s original form. Our egyptologist guide Sam will explain the history as you walk around and take it in.
We’ll then have some free time in Khan El Khalili, Egypt’s biggest market. It’s the perfect place to grab souvenirs, do last minute shopping or even just grab a cup of tea. It’s from here that we’ll start our food tour! Prepare for your taste buds to be delighted as we discover different Egyptian delicacies and try different local dishes.
This is where the main trip sadly comes to an end. We’ll say our goodbyes and you’ll have one night more in Cairo before flying home on Saturday 18th October.

ADD ON: Day 8 – Saturday 18th October – Welcome to the Siwa Oasis
Siwa Oasis is Egypt’s amazing hidden gem and a true adventure awaits you! We’ll set off early in the morning from Cairo. Settle in as it is a 10 hour drive but we’ll be comfortable in an air conditioned private mini bus. Once we arrive, we’ll have lunch in town before heading to the Mountain of the Dead. This burial site rises up from the desert and is filled with historical tombs. We’ll then check into our hotel to relax and unwind after a long drive. Don’t forget to join us for sunset drinks over Fatnis Lake

ADD ON: Day 9 – Sunday 19th October – Salt Lakes and natural springs
We’ll start the day at the main attraction of this oasis town – the salt lakes. As salt is excavated in Siwa, crystal blue pools appear surrounded by white salt rock. Due to the high salt content of the water, you can float in the pools – how magical! We’ll then head to Cleopatra’s Pool to rinse off and change. This is Siwa Oasis’s most popular natural spring and there’s a ton of surrounding cafes selling tea and fresh juice which you can try.
In the late afternoon we’ll head into the desert. The desert surrounding Siwa is filled with many dunes – get ready to have fun on a thrilling 4 wheel drive as the sun sets over the horizon. Memories will be made!
We’ll have dinner at a local restaurant located next to hot springs so you’ll have another opportunity to take a relaxing dip.

ADD ON: Day 10 – Monday 20th October – Back to Cairo
On Saturday we’ll check out and head back to Cairo. As it’ll be another ten hour drive we don’t recommend booking your departure flight for this day, to allow for any delays. We’ll book an airport hotel for the night.

About our tour guide – Egypt Eye Tour
My name is Sameh (Sam) ; I am a licensed Egyptologist tour guide from the Ministry of Tourism since the year 2000. I was born and raised in Aswan, southern most city in Egypt, and I live now in Cairo . I’m a father of 2, twin boy and twin girl.
I love traveling and wandering around the world, learning the cultures of others, and learning about other cultures from my guests whom I host in Egypt.
My goal is to show my guests the real culture and history of my country, Egypt, because it’s full of valuable knowledge and a variety of experiences. I’m proud to work under the history and the unique land of my country.
Trip Terms and Conditions
- Deposits: Once you receive the payment link, you must pay your deposit within 2 weeks. Otherwise, after 2 weeks your spot will be released to the waiting list or potential travellers.
- Refund Policy: In the case of Abena – Travelling Tuesdays LTD cancelling the trip, your full trip fee (including deposit) is refundable within 30 days. In the case that the Hot Air Balloons are cancelled due to weather related issues, 100% of the fee for that add on will be refunded within 30 days. In the event that you would like to cancel your trip: your deposit is completely non-refundable. 50% of anything paid on top of the deposit is refundable up to 60 days before the trip. It is recommended that you secure travel insurance for this trip, many travel insurance providers can cover your fees in the case that you cannot attend the trip due to sickness or injury.
- Personal Responsibility: By booking, you confirm that you have read and understood the list of inclusions and exclusions and understand that it’s your responsibility to plan, book, and pay for exclusions, such as flights and visas. You also recognise that it is your responsibility to comply with any travel requirements, such as visas, passport validity, and any health and safety requirements put in place by Egypt, including Covid-19 related requirements. You also agree to abide by the local laws in Egypt throughout the duration of the trip.
- Age Limit: You must be at least 18 years of age for this trip.
- Room Allocation: You understand that if you choose double occupancy as a solo traveller, you will be accommodated in a shared twin bed room with another participant of the same gender. We will do our best to match like-minded room mates, but cannot guarantee a perfect match.
- Termination: Abena reserves the right to remove a traveller at any time while on the trip due to any traveller’s actions, inactions, communications, or any other anti-social behaviour that is deemed to be a security concern. In the event of such removal, the traveller may not be entitled to any refund or compensation.
- Medical: Travelling Tuesdays LTD shall not be liable for any medical emergencies or expenses incurred during the trip. It is your responsibility to acquire adequate travel insurance.
- Photography: You consent to appear in images and videos taken during the trip, some of which will be posted on the @travellingtuesdays social media pages
